VISION

A small-scale service centre combining sustainable human settlements within a wider tourism and agricultural area.

OBJECTIVES

  • Develop a human settlement that can become a focal point of the service centre.
  • Protect valuable agricultural land and enhance its economic viability.
  • Enhance the tourism product potential of the area.

KEY CONCEPTS

Human Settlement Zone in south eastern region of R563/R560 intersection

Social Facility Node in vicinity of the Dr Sefularo township establishment.

Intensive Agriculture Zones (A) north of R560, and (B) west of R563.

Tourism Zone clustered in the south western area along R96 and Magalies River.

Mixed Tourism & Agricultural Zone in the north western section of the precinct.

Cradle Buffer Zone in south eastern precinct area guiding aesthetic characteristics of new development such as tourism and agriculture.

Mixed Use Activity Spines along R560 and R563 to the north of R96, to include agricultural support services and beneficiation, light industry, commercial and retail development.

Magaliesburg

VISION

A regional service centre combining sustainable human settlements within a wider tourism and agricultural area.

OBJECTIVES

  • Develop new human settlements to meet local housing demand
  • Improve sense of place to enhance tourism product potential.
  • Protect natural environments providing backdrop for local tourism sector.
  • Stimulate economic growth and job creation.
  • Promote a balance between vehicle mobility & pedestrian safety.

KEY CONCEPTS

Mixed Use Zone along R24 expanded through the precinct to boost commercial activity and improve aesthetic character of area.

Westward expansion of Ga-Mohale Residential Zone combining new social facilities.

New Residential Zone at eastern gateway on R24.

Tourism Zone east of R24 focused along Magalies River.

Tourism Nodes at (A) northern gateway, and (B) southern gateway of the Precinct.

Production Zone between R509 and railway line for small scale business/services linked to tourism sector.

VISION

An economically vibrant and socially equitable precinct focused on the N14 Development Corridor.

OBJECTIVES

  • Leverage new economic opportunities and job creation from N14 Development Corridor and Lanseria Node.
  • Consolidate rapid settlement growth into well serviced and functional urban form.
  • Provide a range of housing typologies/densities in line with accessibility and environmental carrying capacity.
  • Promote balance between social development, economic growth and environmental protection.
